The Finance Manager will support the CFO to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
Monitor financial reports and analysis while providing financial insight for effective management reports and strong oversight for internal control systems.
Responsibilitie(s):
- 1. Preparation of Financial Statements:
- • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and statements of equity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- • Coordinate the preparation and review process with internal stakeholders, such as finance teams, controllers, and auditors.
- 2. Financial Reporting Compliance:
- • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements (e.g., SEC & NGX filings).
- • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations and assess their impact on financial reporting practices.
- 3. Financial Analysis:
- • Analyze financial data, trends, and performance metrics to identify variances, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. •
- • Prepare financial analyses, forecasts, projections, and models to support decision-making by senior management and stakeholders.
- 4. Capital Budgeting and Investment Analysis:
- • Evaluate investment opportunities and capital projects.
- • Conduct financial analysis, including net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR) calculations, to assess the feasibility and profitability of investments.
- • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and profitability assessments for projects, investments, and strategic initiatives.
- 5. Budgeting & Forecasting:
- • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, collaborating with departmental managers to gather input and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- • Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to control costs and optimize resource allocation.
- • Update forecasts and projections based on actual performance and changes in business conditions.
- 6. Risk Management:
- • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including market, credit, liquidity, and operational risks.
- • Monitor and report on risk exposures and compliance with risk management policies.
- • Recommend improvements to internal controls and risk management practices to mitigate the risks identified.
- 7. Cost Management and Control:
- • Identify cost drivers and opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement through analysis of cost drivers, benchmarking, and best practice research.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-saving initiatives and monitor their effectiveness over time.
- • Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to budgetary targets.
- 8. Financial Governance and Compliance:
- • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- • Maintain documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls, and update them as needed.
- • Assist in the implementation and testing of internal controls and remediation of control deficiencies.
- 9. Financial Systems and Technology Management:
- • Implement and maintain financial systems and technology solutions to support financial operations and reporting.
Qualification/Experience Requirement(s):
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Accounting or related discipline
- • Relevant professional accounting qualifications such as. ACA, ACCA etc
- • Minimum of 10 - 12 years of relevant work experience
