We are looking for a Software Engineer responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. A basic understanding of front-end technologies is therefore necessary as well.


  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developer with server-side logic
  • Building reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Optimisation of the application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Implementation of security and data protection
  • Design and implementation of data storage solutions

Qualification/Experience Requirement(s):

  • Highly skilled in Python, with strong expertise in Django framework, knowledge of other Python web framework such as Flask in an added advantage
  • Development and testing of REST APIs in Python/Django. Familiarity with React and modern Javascript, HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap with ability to collaborate with front-end developers.
  • Skills working with SQL in addition to solid understanding of Django ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries
  • Perform server and database admin tasks to optimise server and database performance.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or deemed necessary.
  • Good understanding of server-side templating languages e.g. Jinja 2, Mako etc.
  • Good understanding of server-side CSS pre-processors, such as LESS and SASS
  • Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git, Mercurial or SVN, DevOps - deployment, Docker, Ansible e.t.c
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
  • Understanding of the threading limitations of Python, and multi-process architecture
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • User authentication and authorisation between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
  • Management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes
  • Data migration, transformation, and scripting
  • Setup and administration of backups
  • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Strong unit testing and debugging skills
  • Proficient understanding of OWASP security principles
  • Understanding of “session management” in a distributed server environment
